Meet Kayla.

She's excited to be back in school because going an entire month without seeing Sean was painful. No, he's not her boyfriend...yet. They became friends at surf camp over the summer and she's convinced seventh grade will be great with Sean as her soon-to-be-boyfriend. But before school even starts she's minus one best friend. What does seventh grade have in store for her?

Meet Sean. 

He's not exactly thrilled to be back in school. He'd much rather be at the beach surfing or at soccer practice or gaming with his friends. But at least he has a few classes with friends. And science winds up being the best class because not only is his best friend and his only friend whose a girl in that class, but so is the beautiful and popular Courtney Crenshaw. What luck!
